Montmartre with Kids : A playful and cultural stroll through the most bohemian neighborhood in Paris

Want to discover Montmartre with your kids without boring them with too many dates or heavy history? Let us guide you on a fun, interactive walk where art, stories, and little secrets come to life around every corner.

🥾 1. Climb up to the Sacré-Cœur… or take the funicular

Getting to the Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur is already an adventure!
The sporty ones can take the stairs of Square Louise Michel, while younger kids will love hopping on the funicular — which feels like a mini amusement ride!
Once at the top, Paris stretches out before your eyes. Can you spot the Eiffel Tower?

🎟️ Free entry – open daily.

🎨 2. Get your portrait done at « Place du Tertre »

Place du Tertre is the beating heart of Montmartre.
Artists set up their easels here every day. Some create ultra-realistic portraits, while others go for humorous caricatures.
A one-of-a-kind souvenir to bring home from the day!

🖼️ 3. Visit the Montmartre Museum and daydream in the Renoir Gardens

Welcome to the world of Toulouse-Lautrec, Suzanne Valadon, and Utrillo!
The museum tells the story of the district’s artistic life through colorful (and sometimes quirky) works of art.
The peaceful gardens behind the museum are perfect for a break or a fun observation game. Family workshops are also sometimes held there.

💙 4. Look for the word “love” on the “I Love You Wall”

In the tiny Jehan Rictus square near Abbesses station, there’s a poetic mural where “I love you” is written in over 250 languages.
Try to find the ones you recognize… or invent your own!

📸 A must-have photo souvenir.

🚂 5. Hop on the Little Montmartre Train

Tired legs? Hop aboard the charming white train for a 35-minute ride through Montmartre.
It winds through narrow streets, past the vineyards, and shares local secrets along the way. A well-deserved break!

🎠 6. Ride the carousels

Fancy a spin?
In Montmartre, you’ll find vintage carousels with wooden horses and charming old-school cabins.
Kids love them — and parents too (especially for the adorable photos!)

🌸 7. Be amazed by the Pink House (La Maison Rose)

It looks like something out of a fairytale…
Bubblegum-pink, wrapped in greenery, and picture-perfect.
Immortalized by painters, this house is now one of the most photogenic spots in the whole neighborhood.

📍 At the corner of Rue de l’Abreuvoir and Rue des Saules.

☕ 8. Step into Amélie Poulain’s café

If your kids haven’t seen the film yet, you’ll definitely want to show it to them after this!
In the meantime, the Café des 2 Moulins is a real neighborhood spot — with a dash of movie magic and a warm atmosphere.
Perfect for a hot chocolate break.

🌳 9. Relax in Square Louise Michel

Visiting Montmartre as a family also means taking time to relax and do nothing.
This terraced garden is a little haven of peace right in the heart of the Butte.
In summer, you’ll meet musicians, bubble-blowers, and kids running through the grass — always with the Sacré-Cœur watching over in the background…
